Project Overview:

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is constructing the I-295/Route 42/I-76 Direct Connection to provide improved access along the corridor from west of Creek Road to east of Bell Road. The Prime Contractor on this project is PKF-Mark III, Inc.

Distinct Engineering Solutions, Inc. (DESI) is providing environmental consultation services to a subcontractor, C. Abbonizio Contractors, Inc. (Abbonizio). Abbonizio was retained by PKF-Mark III, Inc. to conduct excavation operations for grading and widening as part of the overall road improvement operations.

DESI developed a site-specific Health & Safety Plan (HASP) for excavation operations; the Material Handling Plan to address the handling, testing, and disposal of excess and/or unsuitable soils for off-site disposal; and the Pollution Prevention Plan to address environmental concerns associated with on-site operations.

Currently, DESI is conducting soil sampling for waste characterization for off-site disposal, and providing Abbonizio with environmental consultation on an as-needed basis. DESI also generates reports for waste characterization sampling for submission to the waste disposal facilities
