Project Overview:

MTA Capital construction has retained J D’Annunzio & Sons, Inc., for construction of the first phase of 86th Station for a new Second Avenue Subway line in New York City, New York. The project scope includes construction of two access shafts to allow construction of the station, relocation and temporary support of utilities and construction of roadway decking. Distinct Engineering Solutions, Inc (DESI) provided health & safety, environmental and geotechnical engineering support for the project.

DESI prepared several plans and assisted JDSI with implementing them. DESI provided environmental awareness training, characterized subsurface soil & groundwater, prepared site specific Health & Safety Plan, Air Monitoring Plan (AMP) Exposure Monitoring Plan (EMP), Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP), Pollution Prevention Plan (PPP), Soil Erosion Prevention Plan. DESI performed a continuous air monitoring at the site as part of baseline air monitoring program using ADR 1200 and 5 gas meter and established baseline data. DESI conducted building condition and structural evaluation surveys which included photo and video documentation, installation of crack gauges and provided recommendations for limiting vibrations and lateral movement, on a regular basis.
