Project Overview:

MTA Capital construction has retained Judlau Contracting, Inc., for construction of the 63rd street/Lexington Avenue station, for a new second avenue subway line in New York City, New York. The project includes the construction of new station entrances to allow access from 3rd Avenue; construction of new ancillaries and open vent structures to street entrances; modification of the existing interior station structure at 3rd Avenue to connect new entrances to platforms. DESI engineers are serving as environmental manager of assisting in developing and implementation of environmental aspects of the project specifications and guide where corrective actions are required.

DESI prepared environmental plans as part of environmental management and assisted Judlau with implementing them. DESI provided environmental awareness training, characterized subsurface soil & groundwater, prepared Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP), Environmental Impact Minimization Plan, Historical Resources Construction Protection Plan (HRCPP) and Tree Restitution Plan. DESI developed Noise Control Monitoring and Mitigation Plan (NCMMP) and installed monitoring equipment and performed daily monitoring and prepared weekly report. DESI performed base line air & noise monitoring and developed site specific limits.

Currently DESI is performing continuous air & noise monitoring, environmental management at the site and submitting daily, weekly and monthly reports.
