Project Overview:

Posillico Environmental was retained by Consolidated Edison (ConEd) to perform remedial action at the former Pelham Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) site in Pelham, Westchester County, NY. Remedial action required the construction of a jet-grout barrier wall underneath the existing sheet pile barrier wall that enclosed the site. The jet-grout barrier wall was extended from the tip of the sheet pile wall to the top of bedrock.

Distinct Engineering Solutions, Inc. (DESI) provided gas main structure monitoring services. DESI developed a Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Plan for the gas main pipe and trestle structure using a unique, automated monitoring technique that sends real-time alarms and notifications to project engineers so that any necessary corrective actions can be undertaken.

DESI installed structure monitoring points (prisms), settlement monitoring points (Borros anchors, utility monitoring points), and seismographs to monitor ground and structural movement, and vibrations. Recommendations to implement necessary corrective actions were provided through daily and weekly reports.
